Update: so some questions have come in re: choices. First: both Simon Pearce and Miranda Thomas have what are called “seconds” which are slightly irregular pieces with tiny flaws. They are much less expensive and honestly I prefer them, I find them to be truly unique. Second: as far as the color or pattern options at Miranda Thomas (drat not having a registry!) I am a fan of the blue with birds or fish, the cream carved and the black carved. I have just a tiny few of each so no preference, truly, rules over any other.
